The arts truly do come alive here in the Spring and this weekend the River Arts District kicks off the season with an Exhibition featuring 23 members of the Women in the Arts Foundation (WIAF). The WIAF is celebrating their 40th anniversary with this show. From it’s roots as a group of artists, writers and other art world professionals meeting in lower Manhattan and taking to the streets to protest the exclusion of women artists in museums and galleries, WIAF quickly grew into a national organization. They now connect and support women in the arts from all over. Each artist has created a work honoring someone who has influenced her career. Fifteen artists from New York will be exhibiting along with many local artists in the Women in the Arts Foundation. We, at A Bed of Roses, are honored to be hosting one of the visiting New York artists, Betsy Gross during her stay in Asheville for the opening. River of Art-from New York to Asheville runs from April 15 through May 15, with a reception from 5:30–8 p.m. this Saturday, April 16. The exhibition will be at 310 ART at Riverview Station, 191 Lyman Street in the Asheville’s River Arts District (828) 776-2716.
