Yet another reason to visit Asheville mid-week! Homegrown in Prichard Park is a new free concert series featuring local singer-song writers every Thursday night throughout the summer. Presented by 98.1 the River, the series starts this Thursday with Jenny Greer of Jen & The Juice. Prichard Park is right in the center of down town Asheville so it is easily accessible and a vibrant part of the eclectic Asheville scene.
Homegrown in Prichard is part of the Prichard Park Cultural Arts Programs put on by the Asheville Downtown Association. This year they are partnering with WNC magazine and 98.1 the River, a great independent radio station, to put on events all summer long.
Other events in the park are Hoop Jam Tuesdays from 5:30 – 7:30pm and the Saturday Umbrella Market from 10am to 2:00pm. Asheville Hoops with Melanie MacNeil entertain and instruct you to music by George Pond on Tuesdays. The umbrella market features homegrown arts, crafts, jewelry, photography, flowers, tomatoes, herbs, and more!
Prichard Park is also home to the famous Friday night Drum Circle. For nine years people have gathered in the park to dance and make music together. It’s a wonderful tradition and a memorable one. Dozens of drums resonating in this mini-amphitheater created by rock faces and trees! Bring a drum and join in!
