Bed and Breakfast owners are always asked to suggest Romantic Restaurants for their guests, especially around Valentine’s Day. In Asheville we have so many to choose from, but Bill and I have our favorites. Sampling our local restaurants is one of our favorite “perks” from running a B&B! For Valentine’s Day, or any romantic celebration, check out these three stellar Asheville Restaurants.

  1. Zambra–  Our #1 choice for a romantic dinner, the dimly lit Moorish décor provides all sorts of little nooks and crannies for a private supper of tapas amid throw pillows, beads, massive wooden columns and arches. It feels as though you’ve stepped down through the rabbit hole into a special magical world.

Local artist, Douglas Madaras, has designed the colorful interior using Spanish and Moorish influences. The meal is an adventure of course after course of Spanish, Portuguese, North African and Gypsy inspired small bites accompanied by an impressive selection of Spanish and New World wines. Partners Peter Slamp and Chef Adam Bannasch have created one of America’s most Romantic Restaurants right here in Asheville.

  1. The Red Stag Grill– Located in the Grand Bohemian Hotel steps from the historic Biltmore Estate, the décor has been described as what George Vanderbilt might have built if he had created a rustic hunting lodge. I have never been a fan of Hotel Dining Rooms, but The Red Stag is much more than a Hotel Restaurant. It is our go-to place for special occasions. The atmosphere is elegant and sumptuous, the service is impeccable and the food is award winning. The Executive Chef, Scott Ostrander, uses fresh local ingredients to create what they dub “European comfort food”. This is the place to treat yourself and your true love like royalty!

  1. Ambrozia– Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall in North Asheville is a culinary gem. This out of the way spot is perfect for a sophisticated romantic dinner. The space is small and intimate, using a shotgun layout with a bar on one side and tables on the other, subtle lighting, glass and wood.

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed with attentive staff who “know their stuff”. The menu is eclectic with Southern, Southwestern, Asian and Caribbean influences. As with so many Asheville Restaurants, fresh farm to table is key. The wine list is extensive and the craft beer selection is even more impressive. Discover this local favorite with the one you love!
