This Veteran’s Day we have reserved all five of our guest rooms for active or retired military and their spouses as part of this year’s B&Bs for Vets program. The Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association (ABBA) is proud to participate in this nation-wide gesture to thank service members and their families for their sacrifice. A Bed of Roses Rooms, as well as all ABBA member inns, are offering free rooms to veterans and their spouses on Tuesday November 11th. You can also add your name to a waiting list once all of the donated rooms have been filled. A Bed of Roses will be giving priority to those veterans who are new to the program. Please call us at (828) 258-8700 to book. Guests are required to abide by all of our inn policies including our cancellation policies, so although we will not be charging Veterans for their rooms we do require a credit card on file in case of last minute cancellations or no shows. This ensures that another Veteran will be able to make use of the donated room if you are not able to. Please join us for a special day in Asheville in honor of your service.

In Asheville Food Begins with Breakfast, and this Month it’s all about Local Western North Carolina Cheeses!
March 31st, 2015 by abedofroses
In April all of the inns in the Asheville Bed and Breakfast Association will be celebrating local cheeses from Western North Carolina. Come celebrate with us! The Asheville area has a dazzling number of high quality artisanal dairies and creameries, many open for tours and tastings. This month they will be hosting the WNC Cheese Trail event, inviting visitors to the area and local folks as well to spend an afternoon exploring our beautiful mountains and countryside while sampling some of the best handmade cheeses in the area.
All of our inns will be providing you with maps to help guide your adventure as well as recipes using the infinite variety of Asheville area cheeses. Asheville Food truly does begin with Breakfast and at our inns you will get some of the best breakfasts in North Carolina prepared with local cheeses. Here at A Bed of Roses we will also be hosting Saturday local wine and local cheese pairings from 5-6pm featuring wines from Addison Farms Vineyard and cheeses from Three Graces Dairy. The WNC Cheese month celebrations will culminate in the Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest on April 26, 2015 taking place at Highland Brewery from 12-4pm. Learn about cheesemaking, see a goat milking demonstration and watch Asheville’s best chefs compete for the best grilled cheese sandwich! You can meet the cheesemakers and sample cheese from 25 local creameries, just in case you didn’t get to all of them on the cheese trail! Tickets are available at all Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association inns, including A Bed of Roses, for ½ price.

October is a glorious time to visit Asheville and the Mountains of Western North Carolina. For inns and B&Bs it is our busiest time of year. When disaster, major or minor, strikes an inn in October it is a big deal. There are no “days off” this time of year to deal with untoward events. So when my husband ended up in the MICU at the VA hospital this past week, my panic was not just about my husband’s health. (Spoiler alert- he is now fine and quickly getting back to his cantankerous but lovable self!) How was I going to take care of a full house of guests by myself with no end in sight and take care of my husband’s health crisis as well? It seemed unfathomable. This is where I discovered what a wonderful community of innkeepers we have here in Asheville. We are so proud and grateful to belong to the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association.
We have always appreciated the marketing benefits of a strong Association as well as the camaraderie and moral support that ABBA has given us since we bought our B&B. But when we put the word out that Bill was sick we really found out how our community had our backs. During a time when they were all their busiest, we had offers of help that ranged from cooking breakfast for 10 for us to checking in guests while I was in the hospital and baking cookies for us, so our guests wouldn’t have to sacrifice their home baked afternoon goodies! Besides my personal gratitude to our wonderful colleagues, it makes me feel really good to know that when you stay at any one of our ABBA inns, you will be taken care of no matter what happens. If one of us is down the rest will pitch in to be sure your experience is not compromised. There’s a promise not many businesses can make! So we’re back on our feet here at A Bed of Roses and I got a great new recipe for biscotti from the Carolina Inn. Thank you ABBA! And thank you so much to our housekeepers, Angie and Faith for pitching in and going that extra mile to support us when we needed it. It’s a great community.

On May 8th The Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association (ABBA) is unveiling a brand new look with a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate our exciting new Interactive Kiosk at the Asheville Visitor’s Center. A Bed of Roses is a proud member of ABBA and we’re excited about this event! Now you can walk up to a beautiful touch screen animation of our new logo and request information on any of our member inns, search for inns by location or amenities and even book a room right there! We’ve been busy creating a brand new website with a new logo that we’re unveiling at the same time and we at A Bed of Roses are so proud of all the people in this great organization that have worked hard to get this project off the ground.
The Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association consists of 16 member inns that come together to encourage visitors to experience Asheville from the welcoming home base of a B&B. It’s truly a “better way to stay” as the Professional Association of Innkeepers International has been saying with their campaign to educated the public to the exceptional experience that staying at a B&B affords.
Each and every inn in our organization has something different and exceptional to offer. An ABBA Inn may be a Queen Anne Victorian like ours, or an Arts & Crafts style home or a cabin nestled in the mountains. You can totally tailor your visit to Asheville to fit your style, your budget and your imagination by choosing an ABBA inn. You can call any of our inns or the ABBA main number and be assured that if they don’t have what you’re looking for they will help find an inn that does. We, as an organization make sure that all of our inns are of the highest quality so we can feel good about referring our guests to them.
ABBA, by operating as a group, can also offer special experiences and discounts for Asheville area activities. When you go to our new website you can visit our “Specials” page for opportunities available to ABBA inn guests only.
If you can’t join us at the Asheville Visitors Center, be sure to check out all the changes on our new website at http://ashevillebba.com!
