Meet the Innkeepers

Janis and Chris have operated the inn for over five years.  Originally from Oklahoma, they moved to the Asheville area in 2001, from Littleton, CO.  Over the past thirty years, while Chris ran his own business and Janis worked as a counselor, they collected antiques together had dreams of owning an antique shop or operating a Bed and Breakfast in a tourist destination.

Chris and Janis knew they wanted to live in the Eastern United States and so they began their search along the Carolina coast, but soon realized that Asheville, which is located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, was the perfect place for them. Much to their surprise, they found they were the new owners of a lovely inn within just a few weeks of beginning their search.

Chris and Janis now operate A Bed of Roses. The Ortwein's have meticulously renovated this lovely 1897 home and have decorated it with period antiques. They look forward to extending their warm hospitality to you on your next visit to Asheville.
