Bill and Emily McIntosh
Owning “A Bed of Roses” has been a long sought dream come true for Emily and Bill. A passion for historic preservation, antiques and Victorian architecture led them to restore three properties in the Boston area as well as build a lovely collection of antiques. Add to that a love of cooking and gardening and a Bed and Breakfast was the perfect fit. A search throughout the country for the right location for their inn eventually led them back “home” to Asheville, where Emily’s family had relocated many years ago. Bill was born in Nashville, TN and lived all over the south as a child in a military family, so after many years in the north this is a homecoming for him as well. A Bed of Roses, a charming Queen Anne Victorian in a lovely tree lined historic district, caught their eye right away.
Emily and Bill have always worked together as a team, first at Children’s Hospital Boston, where Emily was a medical illustrator for 30 years and Bill was a biomedical photographer. An eye for the arts informs both of their decisions on everything from décor, table presentation, gardening and landscaping to suggestions for a day of entertainment in one of the greatest art and entertainment communities of the Southeast.
Sasha and Nadia, sisters rescued from a Boston animal shelter, also took to inn-keeping immediately. Half Himalayan and half long-haired tabby, they’ll be the first to greet you at the door and win your heart!
The McIntosh’s look forward to sharing their dream come true and their warm hospitality with you on your next visit to Asheville.
